North Branch High School (NBHS) has recently been recognized as one of the top high schools in the state, according to a study by US News and World Report. The school has placed in the top 40% of high schools nationally and in the state, exceeding state averages for math, reading, and science proficiencies.

With a graduation rate of 96%, well above national and state averages, NBHS has also received high marks for preparing its students for college. Principal Mark Hiltunen credited the school board and staff for their hard work in achieving this recognition.

Amber White, executive director of curriculum and instruction at North Branch Area Schools, highlighted the school’s emphasis on problem-based learning and critical thinking skills as contributing factors to their success. The early college program, which allows students to take college classes during their junior and senior years, has also been instrumental in preparing students for higher education.

In addition to the high school’s recognition, North Branch Elementary School and Ruth Fox Middle School were also named Best in the State by US News and World Report earlier this year. Superintendent Jim Fish praised the district’s staff for their dedication to student success and positive school culture.

With a current enrollment of 684 students, North Branch High School is set to graduate 168 students on May 29. The school’s continued focus on academic excellence and student achievement has positioned it as a top-performing school in the state.
