US News Ranks Alabama Among the Lowest-Performing States in America

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Alabama has found itself on the wrong end of the rankings once again, this time on the US News & World Report’s “Best States In The USA” list. The factors considered in this ranking include crime, economy, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and overall opportunity.

The top states on the list include Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and Utah. But what about the worst states? Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia, Alaska, and Alabama are at the bottom of the list.

Alabama, ranked at 46, has some concerning statistics. Only 37% of the population is college-educated, with a median income of $36,953. The state ranks 28th in crime, 32nd in the economy, 45th in education, 44th in healthcare, and 47th in the natural environment category.

Many Alabamians are questioning these rankings, especially when it comes to the natural environment category. Despite the low ranking, the state boasts a beautiful environment and outdoor activities loved by many residents.

It’s clear that Alabamians are tired of being at the bottom of these lists. While rankings can provide valuable insights, they don’t always tell the full story of a state’s strengths and potential for growth.
