US News’ Senior Living Program Expands to Honor 1,703 Communities in Third Year

US News & World Report’s Best Senior Living ratings program has announced its latest results, recognizing 1,703 senior living communities with top marks in its third year. This year’s total surpasses the previous years, with 1,274 communities rated as “Best” in the first year and 1,675 recognized last year.

The program evaluates independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care retirement/life plan communities. Each rated community has an online profile page that highlights where they excel, community details, resident and family testimonials, and accolades to help older adults and their families make informed decisions.

To be included in the analysis, senior living communities had to participate in a consumer-satisfaction survey, meet eligibility criteria, and earn a specific final weighted score. This year, 1,703 communities were recognized as “Best” in one or more categories.

Among the 124 operators evaluated, 112 had communities recognized as “Best.” Brookdale Senior Living and Sunrise Senior Living led the pack with over 100 communities each. Other top organizations included Atria Senior Living, Five Star Senior Living, Americare Senior Living, and more.

Forty-seven states were represented in this year’s ratings, with California, Texas, Florida, and Illinois having the most recognized communities. The program also expanded the number of survey vendors this year to cover more communities and organizations.

US News will host a free webinar on May 9 to provide industry leaders and consumers with more information about how communities are considered for the Best Senior Living ratings. The program aims to help consumers make informed choices for themselves or their loved ones when selecting a senior living community.
