The tension between Iran and Israel has escalated following an airstrike in Syria that killed seven members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. The commander of the Guard vowed retaliation against the “Zionist regime” after blaming Israel for the attack.

US officials are on high alert, fearing significant retaliation from Iran, with concerns that Iran may target Israeli military or intelligence facilities in response. The possibility of an attack using drones or land-attack cruise missiles has raised alarm among American officials.

Iran has accused Israel of targeting a consular building in Damascus, which they consider an attack on Iran itself. The strike resulted in the death of seven Iranian military advisers, including a senior commander in the Quds Force.

In response to the escalating tensions, US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the threat from Iran in a phone call. The US has expressed full support for Israel’s defense against Iranian threats.

Despite efforts to prevent further escalation, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s aide Mohammad Jamshidi warned the US not to interfere in the conflict between Iran and Israel. However, a US spokesperson dismissed the warnings as “Iranian spin.”

The situation remains tense as both Iran and Israel stand firm in their positions, raising concerns about a potential escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.
