The United States has taken a significant step in supporting Ukraine’s defence efforts against the ongoing Russian invasion by initiating the delivery of vital arms and ammunition. President Joe Biden signed a National Security Supplemental aid package worth USD 95.3 billion to provide support to Ukraine, Israel, and enhance security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Amid Russia’s intensified airstrikes on Ukrainian cities, Biden emphasized America’s commitment to providing necessary supplies to bolster Ukraine’s defence capabilities. The aid package includes air-defence munitions, artillery, rocket systems, and armoured vehicles, highlighting the U.S.’s investment in not only Ukraine’s security but also in Europe’s and America’s security.

Secretary of State Tony Blinken announced a new aid package valued at up to USD 1 billion, which includes air defence missiles, artillery rounds, armoured vehicles, and other essential capabilities to help Ukraine defend its territory and protect its people. The Pentagon stated that this aid will fortify Ukraine’s frontlines, safeguard its cities, and counter Russia’s ongoing assaults.

With bipartisan support from Congress, the U.S. is standing alongside 50 allies and partners to ensure Ukraine receives vital security assistance to combat Russian aggression. President Biden warned that if Putin prevails in Ukraine, Russian forces could potentially target a NATO ally in their next move.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the United States for their support, stating, “I am thankful to the people of America… I hope that you and the Americans will feel the result of their help, a resolve to save Ukraine and Ukrainians.” The aid delivery marks a crucial moment in the ongoing conflict, with the U.S. and its allies taking a firm stance in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
