Usyk comes close to knocking out Fury, wins heavyweight titles in thrilling fight

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a historic night of boxing, Oleksandr Usyk shocked the world by becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years after a thrilling showdown with Tyson Fury. The fight, which went the distance, saw Usyk nearly knocking out Fury in the ninth round with a barrage of powerful punches that had the British fighter on wobbly legs.

Despite Fury’s resilience and comeback in the later rounds, Usyk’s dominant performance in the earlier rounds ultimately secured him a split decision victory. The judges scored the fight 115-112 and 114-113 in favor of Usyk, with the third judge giving a close 114-113 score to Fury.

The victory was a crowning achievement for Usyk, who remains undefeated and now holds all the major heavyweight titles. Emotions ran high as Usyk thanked his team for their support, while Fury graciously congratulated his opponent on the hard-fought win.

Fury, however, expressed his belief that he had won the fight and called for a rematch in October to settle the score. The close and intense battle between the two fighters left fans divided on who truly deserved the victory, with many acknowledging the pivotal moment in the ninth round where Usyk came close to finishing the fight.

As both fighters look ahead to a potential rematch, Usyk can bask in the glory of his historic achievement as the undisputed heavyweight champion, while Fury prepares to come back stronger and reclaim his title. The boxing world eagerly awaits the next chapter in this epic rivalry.
