Two Texas schools, the University of Texas (UT) in Austin and Rice University in Houston, have recently been recognized as Ivy League institutions by Forbes. This news comes as a significant development for Indian international students who are enrolled in large numbers at these two Texas schools.
Forbes’ researchers evaluated schools based on various criteria, including standardized test scores, admissions rates, and feedback from hiring managers. UT, with an undergraduate student population just below 40,000 and a 31 percent acceptance rate, was highlighted for its average SAT score of 1370 and ACT score of 30. Meanwhile, Rice University, with an undergraduate enrollment just over 4,200 and a 9 percent acceptance rate, boasted an average SAT score of 1540 and ACT score of 35.
Rice University, often considered the Ivy League school of the south, is known for its selective admissions process, with an acceptance rate of only 8.7 percent. On the other hand, UT Austin, one of the largest universities in the nation, has an acceptance rate of 31 percent and an average ACT score between 29 and 34.
The inclusion of UT and Rice in Forbes’ list of new Ivy League schools reflects their commitment to academic excellence and the quality of education they provide. This recognition is not only a testament to the schools’ reputation but also a testament to the caliber of students they attract and the recognition they receive from employers.
