In a thrilling match at the Mountain West Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 10th-seeded Utah State women’s tennis team secured a 4-2 victory over seventh-seeded Fresno State. Senior Lisa Küng played a pivotal role in the win, earning a straight-sets victory in singles play despite battling injuries throughout the season.

This victory marks Utah State’s first win in the MW Championships since 2019, when they defeated Boise State in the opening round. The team’s overall performance in the tournament has been impressive, with this being the sixth time they have advanced to the quarterfinals in their 12 years in the league.

The match started off strong for Utah State as they secured the doubles point with wins from freshmen Niyati Kukreti and Magdalena Nunez Pureco, as well as Küng and freshman Ana Paula Chavez Sanchez. In singles play, the Bulldogs fought back to tie the match at 2-2 before Küng clinched the victory with her straight-sets win at the No. 2 spot.

Utah State will now face second-seeded San Diego State in the next round of the MW Championships. Fans can follow the team’s progress on social media and stay updated on their journey in the tournament. The Aggies’ impressive performance against Fresno State has set the stage for an exciting continuation of their run in the championships.
