UVA School of Nursing Recognized as One of the Best in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report

The University of Virginia’s School of Nursing has once again proven its excellence by earning top national rankings in the latest report by U.S. News & World Report. According to the 2024-2025 Best Graduate Schools guide, the UVA School of Nursing ranks 18th overall and 11th among public institutions for its master’s degree programs. Additionally, it ranks 31st overall and 22nd among public institutions for its Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, students, and staff,” said K. Craig Kent, MD, CEO at UVA Health. Provost Ian Baucom also expressed pride in the School of Nursing’s national standing, attributing it to the talent and dedication of the faculty and students.

One notable achievement is the ranking of the Nurse Practitioner-MSN Adult Gerontology Acute Care program, which is now 7th in the nation. Dean Marianne Baernholdt expressed her pride in the nurturing environment that has been created to develop skilled and compassionate nurses.

The rankings by U.S. News & World Report are based on various factors including peer assessments, research funding, faculty resources, and program selectivity. These rankings serve as a recognition of the outstanding contributions made by the UVA School of Nursing to patient care, research, healthcare education, and the community.
