Vail Christian’s tennis team made history on Tuesday at the 3A team state semifinals, with a dramatic comeback securing their spot in the state title match. The No. 2 Saints faced off against Peak to Peak in a tense battle that came down to the wire.

The match was tied 3-3 when Vail Christian’s No. 4 doubles team, Grace Armstrong and Linnea Iverson, took the court. Known for their entertaining and theatrical style of play, the duo hooted, hollered, and high-fived their way to a thrilling 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 victory, clinching the win for the Saints.

The team’s journey to the state title match was filled with ups and downs, including losses in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches. However, the Saints’ resilience shone through as four freshmen players stepped up to keep their title hopes alive.

In a nail-biting final match, Armstrong and Iverson defied the pressure by maintaining a light-hearted and jovial attitude on the court. Their teamwork and determination paid off as they secured a dominant 6-0 win in the final set, propelling the Saints to their first-ever team state title match.

Head coach J.D. Webster expressed his pride in the team’s hard work and dedication, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and perseverance in their success. The Saints will now face Colorado Academy in the state title match next Tuesday, with the entire team ready to give their best and make history once again.
