Valley High School Softball Returns After Two-Year Hiatus

After a two-year break, Valley High School Softball is back in action and making waves with a strong start to the season. The team, consisting of 14 players, recently faced off against Clay Battelle in a thrilling game where they fought back from a 13-point deficit to tie the game 24-24 before ultimately losing in extra innings.

The squad is led by four senior players, including Casey Barker at first base, Hannah Bassett at third base, Olivia Ash at second base and right field, and Whitney Brown as pitcher and shortstop. The team also features a mix of underclassmen, with four freshmen, four sophomores, and two juniors rounding out the roster.

Head Coach Joey Barker expressed his excitement for the season ahead, noting the dedication and hard work the girls have put in both on and off the field. Despite some early challenges, including a tough doubleheader loss to Madonna, Coach Barker is confident in the team’s ability to improve and pick up wins as the season progresses.

With a focus on skill development and teamwork, the Lumberjills are determined to get the program back on track and set the stage for a successful future. Coached by Joey Barker and assisted by Colby Bucher, the team is eager to continue their progress and make a mark in the league.
