Vectiopep secures €450,000 in funding to advance innovative cancer treatment technology

Vectiopep, a promising spin-off company founded by researchers at the University of Tartu, has secured a significant investment of €450,000 from a syndicate of investors led by Ivo Remmelg and Dag Nurm. This funding will propel Vectiopep to the next stage of growth as it continues to develop a groundbreaking cancer treatment based on immunotherapy.

The innovative approach taken by Vectiopep involves a unique chemical compound that delivers therapeutic RNA to the patient’s immune cells using specific cell-crossing peptides. This allows the immune cells to receive crucial information about the mutations present in tumor cells, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of the treatment.

With the newly acquired investment, Vectiopep plans to conduct further research and development to expand its technology. The ultimate goal is to advance the technology to the clinical phase, which involves human trials. UniTartu Ventures, the university’s investment company, will also be investing in Vectiopep, reaffirming the university’s commitment to supporting researchers in entrepreneurship.
