Minister of Tourism in Malawi, Vera Kamtukule, has announced the upcoming Malawi Tourism Expo – MITE 2024 with great excitement. The event is scheduled to take place from April 25 to 27 in Lilongwe and promises to be a spectacular showcase of the country’s beauty and hospitality.

The theme for this year’s expo is ‘Ipaste moto: Everything tourism’, highlighting the importance of tourism in the country’s economic recovery strategy. Minister Kamtukule emphasized the need for local operators to sharpen their pitch and highlight their unique selling points to attract international buyers and media attention.

The expo is expected to draw potential visitors and investors, leading to increased bookings, awareness, and media coverage. Margaret Ngwira, Managing Director of Linga Wines, expressed optimism about the expo’s potential to promote the tourism industry and support local businesses on a global scale.

In last year’s expo, President Lazarus Chakwera urged local tourism players to make their services more affordable for ordinary Malawians to capitalize on the industry’s potential. The Annual Economic Report 2024 by the Malawi Government highlighted the significant contribution of travel and tourism to the country’s GDP, underscoring the importance of events like the Malawi Tourism Expo in driving economic growth and development.
