Video: Bob Arum expresses outrage following Jack Catterall’s victory over Josh Taylor in rematch: ‘The scorecards were unacceptable’

Jack Catterall secured a sweet victory over Josh Taylor in a highly anticipated rematch on Saturday, winning by unanimous decision in a thrilling 12-round battle. However, the post-fight drama stole the spotlight as promoter Bob Arum made his feelings known about the judges’ scorecards.

Arum, visibly upset, grabbed the microphone from Eddie Hearn and expressed his disbelief at the scorecards, calling them a “disgrace” and “ridiculous.” He felt sorry for Taylor and vowed to never allow an American fighter to face British judges again.

Despite the controversy, Catterall was able to avenge his only career defeat to Taylor, who suffered his second consecutive loss after dropping his titles to Teofimo Lopez earlier this year. Hearn, while agreeing with Arum about the scorecards, believed that justice was ultimately served with Catterall’s victory.

In the aftermath of the fight, Catterall expressed his disappointment that the belts were not on the line due to Taylor’s previous loss. However, he remains focused on his future and is eager to face new challenges in the ring.

“I believe I won the fight,” Catterall stated. “It’s bittersweet tonight. No world titles. I won that fight. We can close that chapter with Josh Taylor.”

With the possibility of a trilogy fight looming, fans can expect more fireworks between Catterall and Taylor in the future. But for now, Catterall is savoring his hard-earned victory and looking forward to what lies ahead in his boxing career.
