VIDEO: Burj Khalifa Illuminated in KKR Colors to Celebrate IPL 2024 Championship Win

The Kolkata Knight Riders made history once again as they celebrated their third Indian Premier League championship in grand style. The iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai was illuminated in the team’s signature purple and gold colors, showcasing their victory to the world.

A mesmerizing 16-second video captured the tallest building in the world adorned with KKR’s branding, including the team logo, images of players in their jerseys, and owner Shah Rukh Khan. The team’s social media handle shared the video with the caption, “View from the top 👉 It’s all PURPLE! 💜

The Knight Riders clinched their third IPL title on Sunday, May 26, with a dominant performance against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. KKR restricted Sunrisers to a mere 113 runs, the lowest score in an IPL final, before chasing down the target in just 9.3 overs.

Shreyas Iyer led the team to victory, becoming only the second KKR captain to win the IPL title after Gautam Gambhir. The win also made the IPL 2024 final the shortest title match in terms of overs bowled, with KKR’s dominance on full display.

The victory solidified KKR’s status as one of the most successful IPL franchises, with three titles under their belt. They now trail only the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, who have five titles each.

Despite the Sunrisers’ record-breaking season earlier, they faltered in the final, posting the lowest-ever total in an IPL final. Venkatesh Iyer’s stellar performance with the bat, scoring a 24-ball fifty, was instrumental in KKR’s triumph. The defeat marked Pat Cummins’ first loss in a major tournament final, after leading Australia to victories in the World Test Championship and World Cup final last year.
