The iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai illuminated in shades of purple on Tuesday, May 28, to celebrate the victory of Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Shah Rukh Khan-co-owned team clinched their third IPL title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in a thrilling final at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, lit up in the vibrant colours of KKR, capturing the attention of cricket enthusiasts in Dubai. A video capturing this magical moment was shared by the Kolkata-based franchise on Instagram, with a caption that read, “View from the top. It’s all PURPLE.”

The light and sound show on the Burj Khalifa featured images of the champion Kolkata Knight Riders squad, including a special message for Shah Rukh Khan, who is also the team’s co-owner. The Bollywood superstar, known for his close ties with Dubai, expressed his gratitude for the honour bestowed upon the team.

Shah Rukh Khan’s manager, Pooja Dadlani, also shared a clip of the Burj Khalifa adorned in the iconic Purple and Gold colours of Kolkata Knight Riders, thanking Emaar Dubai and Burj Khalifa for the special tribute.
