In the video, Katy can be heard saying, “I need my top to stay on!” as Luke and the crew tried to reassemble the sharp chrome piece. Despite the stressful situation, Katy managed to maintain her sense of humor, joking that contestant Roman Collins’ performance of James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” was to blame for the mishap.

After the incident, Katy spoke with Entertainment Tonight, downplaying the wardrobe malfunction as just a “moment for television.” She explained, “Every season, it seems I rip my pants. I think it’s the physical comedy, the physical expression side of me that just wants to burst at the seams.”

Adding to the humor of the situation, fellow judge Lionel Richie playfully accused Luke of causing the wardrobe malfunction. However, Luke defended himself, insisting that he was only trying to help Katy by attempting to mend the top with pliers.
