Vietnam and Laos Strengthen Technological Cooperation

The first session of the Vietnam-Laos Committee for Cooperation in Technology and Innovation was held in Vientiane, Laos, on May 28, marking a significant step towards enhancing bilateral technological collaboration.

During the meeting, Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Huỳnh Thành Đạt and Lao Minister of Technology and Communications Boviengkham Vongdara agreed to expand their cooperation in technology and innovation. They discussed various forms of joint work to align with the sustainable development strategies of both countries and the current global context, including the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Both sides agreed to consult systematically on the organization and management of technology and innovation to fully utilize the potential of both nations in this field. They also outlined their collaboration direction for the next two years, focusing on sharing experiences in state management, policy planning, and supporting the development of institutional and legal frameworks related to high technology, startups, and technology transfer.

Furthermore, the two ministers agreed to collaborate on research, development, application, and technology transfer in various sectors such as Industry 4.0 technologies, IT, agriculture, medicine, renewable energy, and climate change. They also planned to organize training courses on sci-tech and innovation management annually and participate in activities that promote technology transfer and innovation.

This partnership between Vietnam and Laos in the field of technology and innovation is expected to bring about mutual benefits and contribute to the overall development of both countries.
