Virat Kohli confirms participation in warm-up game against Bangladesh; former India captain departs for T20 World Cup

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Virat Kohli, the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper, has finally broken his silence and made a brief public appearance before joining the Indian squad for the ICC World T20 2024. After a stellar season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kohli was spotted at the airport as he prepared to link up with Rohit Sharma’s Team India for their warm-up game against Bangladesh.

The upcoming T20 World Cup is seen as a crucial opportunity for Kohli and Rohit to end India’s title drought in ICC events. With the next T20 World Cup not until 2026, both players are aware that this might be their last chance to secure a major trophy. As they approach their late 30s, Kohli and Rohit are determined to leave a mark on the world stage in the US and the Caribbean.

Kohli’s top form was evident during the IPL 2024 season, where he led the batting charge for RCB and scored an impressive 741 runs in 15 games. Despite RCB’s exit in the playoffs, Kohli’s performance earned him the Orange Cap for the second time in his career, having previously won it in 2016 with 973 runs.

As Kohli joins the Indian camp for the T20 World Cup, fans are eager to see him in action alongside the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant. The team will face Bangladesh in their only warm-up game before the tournament kicks off, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting and competitive event.
