Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan Announces Plans to Stabilize Flight Operations for Remainder of April by Weekend

Vistara, one of India’s leading airlines, is facing operational challenges due to pilot shortages and disruptions in flight schedules. The Chief Executive Officer of Vistara, Vinod Kannan, announced that the airline aims to stabilize its operations for the rest of April by the weekend, as 98% of pilots have signed the new pay contract.

The recent pilot shortage was triggered by new salary rules coinciding with the merger with Air India, leading to a significant number of pilots taking sick leave. This resulted in operational disruptions and numerous flight cancellations, affecting over 200 Vistara flights in the past two weeks.

In response to the situation, Vistara has been reaching out to affected customers to offer refunds and compensation. The airline is also engaging with pilots to address their concerns and clarify the new contract terms. Despite the challenges, Vistara assured customers that they are working diligently to resolve the issues and maintain the high standards of service expected from the airline.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has instructed Vistara to submit daily reports on flight operations and adhere to Civil Aviation Regulations to ensure smooth operations. Vistara has temporarily reduced the number of flights and deployed larger aircraft on select routes to accommodate passengers.
