Vistara’s Goal: Ensuring Stable Flight Operations for Remainder of April by Weekend

Vistara, one of India’s leading airlines, is facing operational challenges due to a pilot shortage following the implementation of new salary rules and a merger with Air India. The Chief Executive Officer of Vistara, Vinod Kannan, has stated that the airline aims to stabilize operations for the rest of April by this weekend, as 98% of pilots have signed the new pay contract.

The airline has been reaching out to customers affected by delays and cancellations to offer refunds and compensation. Despite the majority of pilots signing the new contract, some still have concerns and queries that the airline is working to address.

The recent pilot shortage led to severe operational disruptions, with numerous flights being canceled. Vistara is actively engaging with pilots to resolve their concerns and prevent any increase in attrition.

Over the past two weeks, more than 200 Vistara flights have been affected, either canceled or delayed. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked Vistara to submit daily reports about flight operations and comply with Civil Aviation Regulations.

In response to the challenges, Vistara has temporarily reduced the number of flights and deployed larger aircraft on select routes to accommodate more passengers. The airline is also offering refunds and compensation to affected customers.
