Vodafone Idea, in a bid to attract more 4G subscribers after raising Rs 20,000 crore in equity funds, has launched a new offer for new prepaid users on its network. The telecom operator introduced the ‘Vi Guarantee Program’ which promises an extra 130 GB of data over one year to subscribers with 5G smartphones or those who have recently upgraded to a new 4G smartphone.

The offer, available for users with prepaid plans of Rs 239 and above, will see 10 GB of data credited to their account on the 28th of every month for 13 consecutive cycles. This additional data can only be used once the existing data quotas are exhausted.

Avneesh Khosla, the chief marketing officer at Vodafone Idea, stated that the program aims to provide users with an uninterrupted, high-speed data experience. The offer is open to all 5G and new 4G smartphone users across India, except for certain regions.

This move comes as Vodafone Idea plans to invest Rs 50,000-55,000 crore over the next three years for expanding 4G coverage, launching 5G in key areas, and meeting the growing data demand. Despite the offer, analysts believe that it may not have a significant impact on new user additions as competitors like Jio and Airtel are aggressively upgrading 2G users to 4G.

Vodafone Idea has been facing a decline in subscribers for over three years but has been steadily adding 4G subscribers. With the new offer, the company aims to increase its Average Revenue Per User (Arpu) and enhance its network for sustainable growth. Analysts believe that with the recent equity raise and government support, Vodafone Idea is on the path to stability and growth in the telecom industry.
