The Fall River area is buzzing with excitement as 58 talented tennis athletes have been selected for the 2024 Herald News Fan’s Choice Preseason Tennis Player of the Year ballot. This prestigious poll features athletes from five different high schools – Case, Diman, Durfee, Somerset Berkley, and Westport.

Supporters of these schools and athletes can visit heraldnews.com to cast their votes for the player of their choice. The voting period will end on May 4, with the winners, one male and one female, being announced on heraldnews.com and X (formerly known as Twitter).

Among the talented athletes vying for the title are names like Brooke Adams from Case, Ava Aguilar from Somerset Berkley, and Kori Tickel from Somerset Berkley. Tickel, a sophomore at Somerset Berkley Regional High School, is making waves in the tennis scene despite facing unique challenges. Tickel, an amputee, uses a prosthetic running blade on her left leg and plays No. 3 singles for the Somerset Berkley Regional girls’ tennis team.

The competition is fierce, with a wide range of skilled players from different schools showcasing their talent on the court. The community is encouraged to vote for their favorite players and show their support for these dedicated athletes.
