SMU Men’s Basketball Adds Wake Forest Transfer Kevin Miller to Roster

New SMU men’s basketball head coach Andy Enfield is wasting no time in reshaping the roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The latest addition to the Mustangs is six-foot guard Kevin Miller from Wake Forest, who announced his commitment to the team on Sunday. Miller joins Oregon guard Kario Oquendo and Long Beach State guard A.J. George as recent additions from the transfer portal.

Nicknamed “Boopie,” Miller had an impressive season at Wake Forest, averaging 15.6 points per game, the second-highest on the team. He also led the Demon Deacons in assists with 3.5 per game and averaged 1.5 steals, ranking in the top 10 in the ACC.

What makes Miller a valuable addition to the Mustangs is his experience in the ACC, having played there for a year. This experience will be crucial as SMU transitions to the ACC for the first time in the upcoming season, marking their entry into a power basketball conference.

After transferring from Central Michigan to Wake Forest, Miller helped his team to a 21-14 overall record and an 11-9 conference record. His commitment comes at a time when intra-conference transfers are becoming more common in the ACC, with high-profile players making moves within the conference.

While SMU made improvements in the American Athletic Conference this past season, they still have work to do to compete in the ACC. With the addition of Miller, Coach Enfield and the Mustangs are on the right track to building a competitive team for the upcoming season.
