Wallace State’s Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams Dominate ACCC Championships

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State’s men’s and women’s tennis teams showcased their dominance at the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Men’s and Women’s Tennis Tournaments held at Jasper High School. The men’s team secured their sixth consecutive ACCC championship, while the women’s team clinched their third title. Coach Tim Garner was recognized as the ACCC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in the men’s division and the third time in the women’s division.

Men’s tennis player Kye Bennett from Adelaide, South Australia, stood out by claiming first place in the men’s flight No. 1 singles and was honored as the ACCC Men’s Player of the Year. Other notable victories in the men’s division included Jace Moody, Pablo Ruben, and Brett Foster, who all secured wins in their respective singles matches.

On the women’s side, Italia Jones, Lexie Luders, Lilly Brown, and Anne Van Binsbergen emerged victorious in their singles matches. The women’s doubles teams also excelled, with Noelle D’Angelillo and Natalie Vergara finishing first in No. 2 doubles.

With these impressive wins, both teams have earned spots in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships. The women’s team will compete in Tyler, Texas, while the men’s team will head to Plano, Texas.

Both teams have had outstanding seasons, with the women boasting a 20-9 overall record and the men holding a 19-9 record. They are currently ranked 13th in the nation in their divisions by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The success of Wallace State’s men’s and women’s tennis teams is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and they are poised to make a strong showing at the upcoming national championships.
