Walt Disney World to unveil new Polynesian Island Tower in December 2024

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World is set to get even more magical with the addition of the new Island Tower, projected to open in December 2024. This new 10-story tower will offer a range of room sizes and types, including small duo studios, deluxe studios, one-bedroom villas, two-bedroom villas, and two-bedroom penthouse villas that can accommodate up to nine guests.

Reservations for the Island Tower will be available first to Disney Vacation Club members starting on June 4, followed by Disney annual passholders on June 5, and then open to all guests on June 6. Interestingly, at least initially, only cash stays will be bookable for both DVC members and non-members.

The new tower will feature a distinct look and feel from the existing Polynesian structures, drawing inspiration from South Pacific islands and the natural world. The lobby will showcase a ceiling art installation inspired by native wildlife, with each animal symbolizing a connection to the islands and their values.

Additionally, the styling of the tower will incorporate elements of Polynesian wayfinding and the natural elements of water, earth, wind, and fire. Artwork from contemporary Polynesian artists and subtle nods to Disney’s “Moana” and Mary Blair will also be featured throughout the resort.

While some may have mixed feelings about the departure from traditional Polynesian architecture, the new Island Tower promises to offer guests a modern and immersive experience at one of the most popular monorail resorts at Walt Disney World. Stay tuned for updates on amenities and pricing as more information becomes available.
