The aftermath of the Israeli raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza has left a devastating trail of death and despair, with residents and medical crews uncovering mass graves and searching for their loved ones. Fifteen bodies were recovered on Monday from the area surrounding the hospital, where Israeli forces are believed to have killed hundreds of Palestinians during a two-week siege.
Video footage captured by CNN shows medical workers, some wearing UN-marked vests, digging up bodies from mounds of sand near the hospital complex. White body bags, some marked as “unidentified body,” lay scattered around the excavation site, highlighting the grim reality of the situation.
One resident, Mohammad Al-Khateeb, bid farewell to his mother, Khawala Al-Khateeb, who was killed during the Israeli military siege. He described how the hospital had been turned into a mass of rubble, depriving patients and staff of essential supplies like water, medicine, and food.
Another resident, Waleed Abu-Laila, finally found his mother’s decomposed body after days of searching. He identified her by specific markings on her feet and hands from a previous amputation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been contacted for comment on these allegations, but have not responded. The harrowing scenes at Al-Shifa Hospital serve as a stark reminder of the human cost of conflict in the region.
