Warner Music Group is expanding its reach into the vibrant music markets of Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka with the launch of Warner Music South Asia. Leading this new endeavor is Jay Mehta, the longtime managing director of Warner Music India. Mehta will now take on the role of managing director of Warner Music South Asia, operating out of Dubai.

With a population of over 400 million people in the region, Warner Music sees immense potential in these markets and aims to support local artists in connecting with the global music industry. Mehta expressed his excitement about the launch, stating, “These are exciting markets with brilliant artists who historically haven’t had the opportunity of plugging into the global music industry. That’s all set to change.”

Mehta has a track record of success, having spearheaded various initiatives since launching Warner Music India in 2020. From licensing deals to partnerships with local labels, Mehta has been instrumental in expanding Warner Music’s presence in the region.

Simon Robson, president of international recorded music at Warner Music, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, “We’re now open for business in a series of countries that have rich musical traditions and strong global connections through their extensive diasporas.”

In addition to Warner Music’s expansion, SESAC, Warner Chappell Music, BMI, and other music industry players have also made notable moves, including new hires, promotions, and strategic developments. The music industry continues to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape, with key players positioning themselves for success in the global market.
