Warren Area High School seniors Kasey Kophazy and Katie Seamens have made history as the inaugural all-District 10 all-stars in female wrestling. The duo were among the first District 10 champions in the newly-sanctioned sport of girls wrestling by the PIAA.

The PIAA officially sanctioned girls wrestling on July 1, marking the end of its first season in early March at Hershey’s Giant Center. Kophazy claimed the inaugural D10 championship at 136 pounds, while Seamens took the title at 148 pounds.

Despite going 0-2 at the state tournament, Kophazy finished her senior season with a 21-15 record and placed fourth at regionals. Seamens, also 0-2 at states, ended the season with an 18-13 record and finished fourth at regionals to advance to the state tournament.

Both wrestlers expressed their pride and gratitude for being named to the all-District 10 team. Seamens stated, “I never thought I’d be awarded with this honor. It is a huge award to uphold, especially after the season and my career ended.” Kophazy added, “If my 10th-grade self could see where I am today, I know she would be incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in just two years.”

In addition to the girls’ accomplishments, Warren wrestlers Ryan Fitzsimmons and Adika Fiscus were named Region 3 all-stars for the second consecutive year. Fitzsimmons and Fiscus were recognized for their outstanding performances in the boys wrestling division.

The success of Kophazy, Seamens, Fitzsimmons, and Fiscus highlights the growing popularity and success of wrestling in District 10, setting a high standard for future generations of wrestlers to come.
