The Tsitsipas brothers have always shared a special bond through their love for tennis. While Stefanos Tsitsipas made a name for himself on the professional circuit, his younger brother, Petros Tsitsipas, had a unique reason for getting into the sport.
Petros, who started playing tennis at the age of six alongside his elder brother, initially felt jealous of Stefanos for getting to play with their parents while he watched from the sidelines. In an interview with the ATP Tour, Petros revealed, “I was quite jealous of him because he got to play tennis with my parents, and I was just outside of the court watching. So I remember I just jumped on court, grabbed the racquet, and I tried to play with him.”
Despite his initial reluctance, Petros eventually joined his brother on the court, realizing that he didn’t want to be left out of the family’s tennis activities. The brothers even played doubles together for the first time at an under-14 event in Greece, showcasing their strong bond both on and off the court.
Recently, Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed his dream of competing in the Olympics with his brother, Petros. He shared, “What I want to do is clear. If I manage to get in the Olympic Games with my brother Petros, I would want to play singles and doubles with him.” This dream of playing alongside his brother in a prestigious event like the Olympics highlights the deep connection between the Tsitsipas siblings.
As the Tsitsipas brothers continue to make waves in the world of tennis, fans eagerly await the opportunity to see them compete together on the international stage, fulfilling a dream that started with a childhood jealousy and blossomed into a shared passion for the sport.
