Washington family heartbroken after butchers mistakenly slaughter beloved pet pigs

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A family in Washington state has been left devastated after a mobile butcher mistakenly slaughtered their beloved pet pigs, Betty and Patty. The tragic incident occurred in Port Orchard when the butcher confused the family’s address with another location.

Owner Nathan Gray expressed his anger and heartbreak over the loss of their pets, describing them as part of the family. The Grays returned home to find their pigs being butchered in their pen while they were away, leading to a traumatic and shocking discovery.

The butcher claimed that his GPS had “screwed up”, resulting in the fatal mistake. The Grays were appalled by the lack of regulations and guidelines surrounding mobile butchering, calling for stricter laws to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Their lawyer, Adam Karp, emphasized that the law treats Betty and Patty as any other beloved pets, despite being classified as livestock. He vowed to seek justice for the family and ensure that the butcher responsible for the incident is held accountable.

Mobile slaughter units were introduced in the US to provide convenience for farmers and ranchers, but this unfortunate incident has shed light on the need for better oversight and regulations in the industry. The Grays hope that their story will lead to changes that protect animals and prevent similar mishaps in the future.
