Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs in a thrilling encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday. The hero of the match was RCB pacer Yash Dayal, who bowled a fantastic last over to defend 17 runs and secure a 27-run victory for his team.

Dayal, who had faced criticism for a disastrous last over in the previous season, redeemed himself by dismissing the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the crucial final over. Despite Dhoni hitting a massive six off the first ball, Dayal remained composed and took the wicket of the former CSK skipper on the second delivery.

With CSK needing 17 runs in the last over to qualify for the playoffs, Dayal conceded only 1 run off the next four balls to seal the victory for RCB. This win marked RCB’s sixth consecutive victory in the tournament and secured their ninth playoff appearance in IPL history.

In the match, RCB posted a challenging total of 218/5, thanks to contributions from Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, and Cameron Green. CSK, in their chase, stumbled early but fought back through Rachin Ravindra and Ajinkya Rahane. However, they fell short of the target and were restricted to 191/7, missing out on a playoff spot.

RCB’s remarkable turnaround in the tournament has been a highlight, and their victory over CSK showcased their determination and resilience. With Dayal’s heroics in the final over, RCB fans were left ecstatic as their team secured a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs.
