The Super League Kerala (SLK) is set to kick off in September, and with the excitement building up, questions are arising about the future plans of the three prominent Kerala Premier League (KPL) teams that have ties with SLK sides.

Wayanad United FC, Kovalam FC, and Tirur’s SAT, which are associated with the new Super League franchisees of Kannur Squad FC, Thivananthapuram Kombans FC, and Malappuram FC, are all gearing up for the upcoming season.

Wayanad United FC, led by Shameem Backer, is focusing on grassroots and youth development. They have already selected 30 under-16 players from Wayanad and are providing scholarships to eight of them under their residential scheme. The team is looking to build a strong foundation for the future.

Kovalam FC, with strong links to the Kombans, is also prioritizing grassroots and youth development. Head coach Ebin Rose mentioned that they will continue in the KPL but will focus on nurturing young talent for the future.

On the other hand, SAT, which made it to the KPL final last season, is determined to push for the title next year. President Anvar Ameen Chelat expressed their ambition to win the KPL and revealed that SAT could serve as a feeder for Malappuram FC.

With these three prominent KPL teams aligning their strategies with the SLK sides, the football scene in Kerala is set to witness an exciting and competitive season ahead.
