OpenAI, the renowned artificial intelligence research lab, has found itself in hot water this week. Following the departure of key members, the organization faced criticism from actress Scarlett Johansson over its new chatbot audio mode, Sky. Johansson claimed that the voice used in Sky was “eerily similar” to her own, prompting OpenAI to suspend the voice option.

In other tech news, HCLTech has announced its acquisition of certain assets from Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Communications Technology Group (CTG). This move will provide HCLTech with valuable intellectual property, engineering talent, and client relationships in the global Communication Service Providers (CSPs) market. The acquired assets, including solutions for Business Support Systems and network applications, are expected to enhance HCLTech’s digital services offerings.

Meanwhile, Microsoft recently held its annual developer conference, Microsoft Build 2024, where CEO Satya Nadella unveiled new updates and initiatives. One of the highlights was the introduction of Team Copilot, a collaborative assistant designed to improve group productivity. Additionally, Microsoft announced advancements in artificial intelligence tools for developers to create more intelligent applications.

Lastly, Cisco has launched its Webex Calling feature in India in partnership with Tata Communications. This enterprise-grade calling solution will be integrated with Tata Communications’ cloud-based Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and routed through their Mumbai data center. This collaboration aims to provide businesses in India with a seamless and reliable communication platform.
