The Weir High baseball team showcased their speed and dominance on the base paths in a commanding 12-0 victory over Catholic Central. The Red Riders lived up to their name as they stole 10 bases in the first two innings alone, setting the tone for the game.

Pitcher Liam Williamson was stellar on the mound, holding Catholic Central hitless through four innings and finishing with six strikeouts. The Weir offense also came alive, scoring multiple runs in each of the first three innings to build a comfortable lead.

Catholic Central struggled to find their rhythm, with head coach Don Young acknowledging that it was simply not their day. The Crusaders used four pitchers in an attempt to slow down the Red Riders’ offense, but were unable to contain their speed and hitting prowess.

Individually, Weir’s Teddy Glyptis, Cayden Braswell, and Colson Kimmel led the offensive charge with multiple hits and RBIs. The Red Riders’ aggressive baserunning and timely hitting proved to be too much for Catholic Central to handle.

With the win, Weir swept the season series against Catholic Central and improved their record to 4-7. The team’s performance showcased their potential and determination as they look ahead to future matchups.

Next up, Weir is set to face John Marshall at home, while Catholic Central will play a doubleheader against Trinity Christian on the road. The Red Riders’ impressive display of speed and skill has certainly caught the attention of their opponents in the league.
