Wellesley High School is buzzing with sports news, from the search for new soccer coaches to the installation of lights at the Hunnewell track & field.

The school is currently on the lookout for both boys and girls head soccer coaches for the upcoming fall season. The positions are part-time and offer payment through a stipend. Previous boys coach Chris DiCecca has moved on to Weston High School, leaving a vacancy that the school is eager to fill. Meanwhile, Steve Bailen had been coaching the girls’ team.

In other news, the Wellesley Playing Field Task Force recently discussed the progress of the lights at the Hunnewell track & field. While all four light poles are now up, there have been some disruptions due to equipment placement and fencing near the home stands. Athletic Director John Brown emphasized the importance of ensuring everything is ready before hosting night games or practices. The lights need to be fully functional, and safety measures must be in place for spectators leaving the venue.

On the track & field front, both the boys and girls teams triumphed over Framingham High in early season meets. The boys secured a dominant 99-37 victory, while the girls emerged victorious with a solid 80-56 score.

Excitement is building at Wellesley High as the sports teams gear up for a successful season ahead.
