West Branch Warriors Dominate Salem Quakers in 10-0 Victory
In a dominating performance, the West Branch Warriors defeated the Salem Quakers 10-0 in a five-inning game on Tuesday. The Warriors capitalized on Salem’s mistakes, scoring 10 unearned runs on eight errors made by the Quakers.
West Branch coach Sis Woods praised her team’s performance, stating, “We came out and didn’t have any errors. (Salem) made a lot of mistakes and we capitalized on them.” The win improves West Branch’s record to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference, while Salem falls to 2-7 and 1-3 in the EBC.
Freshman Ellie Tucker led the Warriors with two hits, including a crucial infield single that extended their lead to 7-0. Josie Milliken and Sara Schmidt also contributed offensively, each recording hits and RBIs.
Pitcher Klary McKay was solid on the mound for West Branch, allowing only three hits and striking out four batters. The Warriors are now looking forward to a busy schedule ahead, hoping to make up for lost games due to weather delays.
On the other side, Salem coach Mike Thorpe acknowledged his team’s struggles and emphasized the need to regroup and move on from the loss. Despite the defeat, Lauryn Barton, Bella Brant, and Menough each collected hits for the Quakers.
West Branch will face Minerva next, while Salem will take on Alliance in their upcoming games. The Warriors’ strong performance against their conference rival has set a positive tone for the rest of the season.
