The West Virginia University baseball team dominated Kansas State in a 13-0 shutout victory at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers improved to 30-19 overall and 16-10 in the Big 12 conference, setting a new single-season program record with 16 conference wins. On Senior Night, senior pitcher Derek Clark stole the show with a stellar performance, throwing seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts and only allowing two hits.

At the plate, sophomore Sam White, junior JJ Wetherholt, and sophomore Logan Sauve led the offensive charge with multiple hits and home runs. White finished the game with five RBI, while Sauve and Wetherholt each scored three times and drove in runs. Wetherholt’s highlight was a 460-foot home run over the centerfield batter’s eye in the sixth inning.

The Mountaineers continued to pile on runs, adding four more in the eighth inning to seal the victory. Clark’s dominant pitching combined with the explosive offense led WVU to their fifth shutout of the season, the most in the Big 12 conference.

With the win, West Virginia looks to clinch the series against Kansas State in the rubber game on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Mountaineers’ impressive performance on Senior Night and their record-setting season have fans excited for what’s to come as they continue their push towards the postseason.
