Gladstone Boys Tennis Shows Improvement in Early Season Match

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone boys tennis team showed signs of improvement in their recent match, splitting singles matches 2-2 but getting swept 4-0 in doubles matches.

Sophomore Teagan Reynolds secured his first career win, defeating Westwood’s Mitchell Ford with a score of 6-0, 6-2. Reflecting on his victory, Reynolds said, “It felt great to get the win. I just cut down my strokes and tried to keep them moving the best that I could.”

Another standout performer for the Braves was sophomore Tyler Soderman, who also secured a win by defeating Damian Grandz 6-3, 6-2. Soderman expressed optimism about the team’s progress, stating, “I think we are starting to get better as a team. Everyone is coming along, and we are a young team that is looking to improve every time out.”

Despite the positive singles results, the Braves faced challenges in doubles play, with pairs like Blake Lesnieski and Nick Thill falling short in their match. However, the team remains focused on growth and improvement throughout the season.

After a tough season last year, the early success in this match provides a promising foundation for the team to build upon. Gladstone tennis will look to continue their momentum in their upcoming match against Escanaba.

The team’s dedication to improvement and their positive attitude bodes well for their future performances in the GNC’s and UP Finals.
