What motivates tourists to travel during national holidays despite overcrowding and poor services?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Despite the overcrowded scenes and poor quality of services during public holidays in Vietnam, many locals still choose to travel due to the limited number of long holidays in the country. With only 11 public holidays and 12 paid leave days a year, Vietnamese workers often take advantage of holidays like Tet, Reunification Day, and Labor Day to travel with their families.

During the recent Reunification Day holiday, the country experienced a severe heat wave, making travel even more challenging. Tourists faced long waits for transportation and services, with some even regretting their decision to travel during the busy holiday period.

Experts have noted that while the surge in tourism during holidays is positive for the industry, it can also lead to overcrowded attractions, traffic jams, and tourist scams. To alleviate these issues, they suggest distributing tourists more evenly throughout the year and implementing effective marketing strategies with promotions year-round.

Some locals, like Minh Huyen from Hanoi, believe that it is unnecessary to travel during holidays and prefer to relax at home instead. They suggest increasing annual leave for Vietnamese workers to allow for more flexibility in travel plans and reduce the reliance on public holidays for vacations.

Overall, while holiday travel in Vietnam may come with challenges, there are potential solutions to improve the tourism experience and make travel more enjoyable for both locals and visitors.
