What We Know About the Cyberattack on Omni Hotels & Resorts

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Omni Hotels & Resorts, a Dallas-based chain operating 50 hotels and resorts in the United States and Canada, fell victim to a cyberattack last week, prompting the company to shut down its systems. The attack, which occurred on Friday, caused disruptions in reservations, hotel-room door locks, and point-of-sale systems.

Although most of the company’s systems have been restored, Omni is still working with a cybersecurity response team to investigate the incident further. The company stated that it took immediate action to protect its data upon discovering the issue and is now working diligently to restore full functionality to its systems.

It remains unclear whether any sensitive customer data was compromised in the attack or if a ransom demand has been made. The Federal Bureau of Investigation reported a significant increase in ransomware incidents in 2023, with reported losses rising by 74% compared to the previous year.

As Omni Hotels & Resorts continues to address the aftermath of the cyberattack, they are still welcoming guests and accepting new reservations. The company issued an apology for any inconvenience caused by the disruption.

This is a developing story, and updates may follow as the investigation progresses.
