WhatsApp’s Chat Lock Feature Could Soon Be Available on Linked Devices

WhatsApp is set to enhance its security features with the extension of the Chat Lock functionality to linked devices. The Chat Lock feature was introduced last year, allowing users to secure their chats in a hidden folder accessible only through passcodes, fingerprints, or face ID. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, unveiled this feature to bolster security and privacy on the messaging platform.

According to reports, a future update of WhatsApp will bring the locked chats feature to linked devices. The update has been spotted in the WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.24.8.4. WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo revealed that the locked chats feature for linked devices is currently in the works and will be available in a future update.

The upcoming feature will enable users to set up secret codes to access chats on linked devices. The secret code can be set up from the primary device by navigating to Chat Lock Settings and selecting the Secret Code option. This new functionality will provide users with added control over their personal and group chats, ensuring enhanced privacy and security.

In addition to the locked chats feature, Meta’s developers are reportedly working on enabling international payments through WhatsApp’s in-app Unified Payments Interface (UPI) service. Furthermore, WhatsApp for Android is expected to receive a new feature that allows users to set the upload quality of images and videos directly via Settings.
