Staples-Motley Cardinals Dominate Mid-Minn Conference Golf Meet

In a stunning display of skill and precision, the Staples-Motley Cardinals soared to victory in the Mid-Minn Conference golf meet held at Whitetail Run Golf Course. Led by junior Carter White, who shot a flawless 3-under 69, the Cardinals secured a 32-stroke win over their competitors.

Grant Bestland of S-M also put on an impressive performance, finishing second with a score of 81. Jackson White and Peyton Mithun contributed to the team’s success by placing fifth and seventh, respectively.

Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin and Pine River-Backus followed closely behind, with Louie Meyer and Isaiah Aulie leading their respective teams to second and third place finishes. Wadena-Deer Creek put up a strong fight, with Jaeger Pettit leading the Wolverines to a fourth-place finish.

The individual medalist title went to Carter White, solidifying his position as a standout player in the conference.

Looking ahead, the Cardinals, along with Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin, Pine River-Backus, and Wadena-Deer Creek, will compete in the Cardinal Invite at The Vintage at Staples on Saturday, April 27.

In another conference meet at Ston Creek Golf Course and Pierz Golf Course, Pierz Pioneers secured a sixth-place finish, with Nathan Cekalla shining with a combined score of 77. St. Cloud Cathedral and Albany claimed the top two spots, while Pequot Lakes and Little Falls also put up strong performances.

The competition was fierce, but the Cardinals and Pioneers proved their mettle on the course, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
