White Sox snap 4-game losing streak with 5-0 victory against Blue Jays

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a dominating performance, the Chicago White Sox shut out the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre. Chicago starter Garrett Crochet led the way, retiring the first 13 batters he faced and allowing just two hits and one walk over six innings. Crochet was supported by relievers John Brebbia, Jordan Leasure, and Michael Kopech, who each threw a clean inning.

Corey Julks and Danny Mendick drove in two runs apiece for the White Sox, ending their four-game losing streak. The unearned run scored against Toronto came after a defensive error by Ernie Clement, allowing Chicago to take the lead early in the game.

The Blue Jays struggled to generate offense, with an announced crowd of 28,176 witnessing the quiet bats of the home team. Toronto’s Yusei Kikuchi pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs and five hits while striking out six.

The game was completed in a brisk two hours and 21 minutes, with the White Sox securing their first victory over Toronto in nine meetings. The Blue Jays will look to bounce back in the rubber game of the series on Wednesday night.

In upcoming games, the Blue Jays will face Chris Bassitt and the Detroit Tigers before heading to Chicago for a three-game series against the White Sox. Despite the loss, Toronto remains hopeful for a strong finish to the series and the week ahead.
