Arizona Grand Jury Indicts 18 Individuals for Alleged Scheme to Overturn 2020 Election
An Arizona grand jury has indicted 18 individuals for their alleged involvement in a scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in favor of Donald Trump. The indictment accuses the defendants of falsely certifying the state’s election results and attempting to keep Trump in office against the will of Arizona voters.
Among those charged is Dr. Kelli Ward, a prominent Trump supporter who served as the chair of the Arizona Republican party. Ward is accused of arranging a fake electors’ vote and falsely claiming to be duly elected and qualified. She declared the Arizona Republican electors as the “true electors” after casting her vote for Trump-Pence.
Other indicted individuals include Tyler Bowyer, Nancy Cottle, Jacob Hoffman, Anthony Kern, James Lamon, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Moorhead, Lorraine Pellegrino, Gregory Safsten, Michael Ward, and several others whose names have been redacted. The indictment also implicates prominent figures such as Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, Jenna Ellis, Mike Roman, Boris Epshteyn, Christina Bobb, and John Eastman.
The defendants face charges of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery for their roles in the alleged scheme. They are accused of pressuring officials to change the election outcome and submitting false electors’ votes. The plot ultimately failed when Vice President Mike Pence certified the election for Joe Biden after the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.
The indicted individuals have denied the charges and vowed to vigorously defend themselves. The case has drawn national attention as it sheds light on the efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. The trial is expected to be closely watched as it unfolds in the coming months.
