Manpreet Kaur, the wife of a man who was stabbed along the White Rock, B.C., promenade, is speaking out about the terrifying incident that has left them feeling unsafe in their new country. The couple, who arrived in Canada just two months ago from India, had been enjoying a peaceful day at the White Rock pier when the attack occurred.

According to Kaur, they were sitting on a bench near the pier when her husband suddenly cried out and held his hand to his neck. When they turned around, they saw a man holding a silver weapon that was glistening in the low light. Despite their screams for help, the man did not run away.

Eventually, the couple decided to run and seek help as Singh was bleeding from his neck. Kaur called 911 herself, and emergency crews arrived soon after. Singh, a 28-year-old victim, was taken to the hospital, where he is now recovering at home.

However, the incident has left the couple traumatized, especially as they now face a large hospital bill without any medical insurance. Kaur expressed her concerns about their financial situation, as her husband is the sole breadwinner in the family.

White Rock Mayor Meghan Knight has promised to look into measures to improve safety in the area, including the installation of CCTV cameras. Police are still investigating the attack and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

The couple’s harrowing experience has raised questions about public safety in Canada and the challenges faced by newcomers in the country. As they continue to recover from the incident, they are left wondering why they were targeted and how they will move forward in their new home.
