Williamsport Track and Field Teams Dominate Dual Meet Against Jersey Shore

The Williamsport track and field teams continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant performance against Jersey Shore in a dual meet. Both the boys and girls teams secured big wins, with the boys triumphing 130-20 and the girls winning 108-42.

Junior Umar Starks and seniors Anyae Grissom and Najiyah Smith were standout performers for the Millionaires. Starks showcased his versatility by winning the long jump, 200m, 400m, and anchoring the 400m relay. Grissom excelled in the hurdles events and also set a personal record in the 200m. Smith dominated the jumps, winning both the triple and long jumps.

The rest of the team also contributed to the victory, with several athletes securing first-place finishes in their events. The coaches, Jeremy Steppe for the boys and Vicki Eberhart for the girls, were pleased with the team’s performance and the numerous personal records set during the meet.

Despite the loss, Jersey Shore had some standout performances as well, with juniors Brodie Herr and Zach Kendall securing first-place victories in tough events. The coaches, Robert Fox for the boys and Monica Richards for the girls, were proud of their athletes’ efforts and are looking forward to building on this performance in future meets.

Both teams are now preparing for the LHU Bald Eagle Classic on Friday, where they will look to continue their success as they aim for conference and district championships. The strong start to the season bodes well for the Williamsport track and field teams as they continue to showcase their talent and determination on the track.
