Willoughby Rotary Club Donates 24 iPads to Deepwood Foundation

The Deepwood Foundation in Lake County has received a generous donation of 24 new iPads from the Willoughby Rotary Club to support individuals with developmental disabilities. The donation was made through the organization’s Willoughby Rotary Autism Project program, known as WRAP, and is aimed at providing critical communication tools to those in need.

Executive Director Rikke Coach expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that the Willoughby Rotary has a longstanding commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals in the community. The iPads are seen as more than just technology, but as tools for empowerment that will help individuals express themselves and engage with the world around them.

Program Administrator Tana Habat highlighted the impact of the donation, noting that the foundation has received a record number of grant requests for iPads this year. The iPads will open up new avenues of communication and support for nonverbal individuals, helping them connect with others.

The Deepwood Foundation has received over 100 iPads from WRAP to date, with a focus on providing speech and communication development tools for nonverbal and speech-challenged individuals. The foundation also purchases speech software and protective cases for each iPad before giving them to grant recipients.
