Wiltshire cosplayer overjoyed after winning world championships

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Matthew Barry, a 30-year-old hotel manager from Bath, has emerged victorious in the prestigious Cosplay Central Crown Championships in Chicago. His elaborate costume, inspired by the online game Monster Hunter World, wowed judges and beat out competitors from around the world.

Barry spent months meticulously crafting his leather armor outfit, using techniques like electroplating and foam sculpting to achieve authenticity in his design. His attention to detail paid off as he claimed the top spot in the competition, showcasing his dedication to the art of cosplay.

Reflecting on his win, Barry expressed his elation, stating, “I still can’t believe I’ve won. The fact that I didn’t give up when I felt down, I still found a way to climb back out from that low point and keep going. That was a nice moment.”

His journey to victory was not without its challenges, as Barry revealed that a previous disappointment served as a wake-up call for him. After narrowly missing out on a top three spot in a previous competition, he was motivated to push himself further and perfect his craft.

Now, with his sights set on the Japanese circuit and a promise to create a duo costume with his girlfriend, Barry is already hard at work on his next project. His dedication and passion for cosplay continue to drive him towards new creative heights, solidifying his status as a champion in the cosplay community.
