Windsor to host the Beer Mile World Classic

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Beer Mile World Championship is coming to Windsor, Ont. this year, and local hero Corey Bellemore is gearing up to defend his world record title on home turf. Bellemore, the current world record holder, is excited to showcase his skills in front of a hometown crowd at the University of Windsor’s Alumni Stadium on Aug. 17, 2024.

The beer mile is a unique event that combines running and beer drinking, with participants chugging a beer before each lap on a track. Bellemore, a former national champion runner, has dominated the beer mile scene since 2016, setting multiple world records including his best time of four minutes and 28 seconds in 2021.

The event has gained popularity over the years, with participants from around the world competing in highly competitive men’s and women’s divisions. For those looking to try their hand at the beer mile, there is also an open race where participants can drink alcohol-free “athletic” beer.

Despite the fun and excitement of the event, there are strict rules in place to ensure fair competition. Participants must drink a specific amount of beer with a minimum alcohol content, and anyone who “chunders” or vomits during the race will face a one-lap penalty.

Bellemore is determined to defend his title and make his world record untouchable. With his impressive running skills and beer chugging abilities, he is ready to put on a show for fans and solidify his place as the king of the beer mile. So mark your calendars for Aug. 17 and come witness the excitement of the Beer Mile World Championship in Windsor.
